The beautiful Palo Verde National Park consists of rivers, mangroves, marshlands and seasonally flooded fields.
It is one of the key wetlands of Central America, home to many resident and migratory waterfowl.
The 1.5-hr boat tour through the Tempisque River in the park provides the opportunity to take a closer look at nature, and observe a wide variety of birds, crocodiles, monkeys, and iguanas, while naturalist guides point out the characteristics of this ecosystem.
Lunch takes place at La Casona, a beautiful two-story wooden building from the XIX Century in Hacienda El Viejo, bordering the national park, considered cultural and architectural heritage of the country.
During the visit, we will also have the opportunity to see a traditional sugar mill working and try freshly squeezed sugarcane juice and other sweet sub-products of the sugar cane.
We will also visit a traditional sabanero house in the property, where we will be offered coffee and some local specialties cooked in a clay oven.
What to bring: cool comfortable clothing and footwear, insect repellent, camera, sunscreen, hat or cap, money (for incidentals).
