The studies for the new Orotina International Airport will be ready in 2017.
The location studies, basic design and master plan of the new Costa Rican international airport would be ready by the middle of next year.
By July 2017, the British company Mott MacDonald will have to deliver to the government the conceptual design of the future airport, in terms of the location of its runways, terminals, and other aeronautical infrastructure.
“Costa Rica will be able to survive regional competition by developing a new airport, such as the one it plans to build in Orotina,” said Hernando Kim, senior manager of the Incheon Airport Trade Division, the world’s best airport for efficiency and safety .
The new airport would replace Juan Santamaría, according to a group of Korean experts who developed the Seminar on Airport Infrastructure and Korea-Costa Rica Cooperation in the country.
